My Thoughts on Glow (The Plated Prisoner Series, Book 4) by Raven Kennedy

My Thoughts on Glow (The Plated Prisoner Series, Book 4) by Raven Kennedy

Glow is the fourth installment in the reimaging of the King Midas myth series called The Plated Prisoner. It takes place immediately following the events of Gleam, so spoiler warning for that book. Auren has killed King Midas and is no longer under his control. Slade has escaped the Fifth Kingdom's palace with her after temporarily rotting her to save her life. However, in their attempt to flee the palace, the other kingdoms decide to come up with their own narrative of what happened. Stating that Auren can steal powers and seduced Slade in an attempt to steal his as well, all so the other kingdoms could appear more powerful. Of course, we know that's not true but we get to see how this narrative plays out in Glow.…

Ranking the Side Questlines in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Ranking the Side Questlines in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I have been playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim over on Twitch for the last month or so. Typically in the past when I played this game, I never played past Act I before restarting the game. So, this is the first time I've really ever explored outside of that. And man have I explored outside that. I've done practically every side questline (the only ones I haven't fully done are the ones without stories or connected quests), became a Thane everywhere I could, and bought a house everywhere I could (one of them I still need to finish building). So, I thought it would be a fun idea now that I've done all the story side quests that I would rank them from "it was alright" to "this was my favorite thing to do".…

The Various Reading Orders of Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

The Various Reading Orders of Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

There is a lot of debate over where to read The Assassin Blade in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Not to mention, two of the books literally take place at the same time on different continents (i.e. Empire of Storm and Tower of Dawn) which can be read in tandem. I already did a post on how to complete a tandem read of those two books. So, I thought I would share the various ways the rest of the series can be read. There isn't a right or wrong way to go about reading this series, and some prefer reading it in a certain order. I am not one of those people, but I also skip over the first and second books whenever I re-read the series or segments of the series. Not that I didn't like them, but from the third book on the series is completely different.…

The Era of YA Vampire Books

The Era of YA Vampire Books

I was looking at my bookcase, and I still have a bunch of books from when I was a teenager. I went through a serious vampire phase. Don't get me wrong I still love a good vampire book. But there's something about the late 2000s and early 2010s in young adult fantasy books, where there were a lot of books featuring vampires. Now, I didn't read all of them and most of the book series I'm going to mention today I technically never finished either due to going to college or growing out of the phase by the time the rest of the books in the series came out.…

Tandem Reading Guide for A Touch of Ruin and A Gate of Retribution by Scarlett St. Clair

Tandem Reading Guide for A Touch of Ruin and A Gate of Retribution by Scarlett St. Clair

When I initially read A Touch of Ruin by Scalett St. Clair, I was wondering what the heck Hades was doing the majority of the time. He's apart from Persephone for a large amount of time, not to mention he doesn't really get into his motives or reasons for things. So, I was looking forward to A Game of Retribution coming out. Now that it's been released, I'm sharing a tandem reading guide between the two. This is not perfectly lined but as close as possible without going by the page.…

My Thoughts on A Game of Retribution (Hades Saga, Book 2) by Scarlett St. Clair

My Thoughts on A Game of Retribution (Hades Saga, Book 2) by Scarlett St. Clair

A Game of Retribution by Scarlett St. Clair is A Touch of Ruin from Hade's POV. While the two books occur at the same time with many of the same scenes, there are a lot of new things. Scenes are expanded upon or shown completely differently. As Hades picks up on things that Persephone doesn't, and some additional ones that don't make appearances at all in A Touch of Ruin. So, even though they are essentially the same book, they are different enough that you could enjoy both. Plus, the plot regarding what they do apart is different, which makes A Game of Retribution a good read.…

Tandem Reading Guide of The Awakening by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Tandem Reading Guide of The Awakening by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

The next tandem reading guide I'm doing is between The Awakening and The Awakening as Told by the Boys by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. Both of these are the first books in the Zodiac Academy series. These books were published two years apart from each other, and you don't really need to read the retelling to understand the story. Most of the elements brought up in The Awakening as Told by the Boys are mentioned later, but it does give some context for where the guys' thought process was at the time when they were bullying Tori and Darcy Vega.…

Looking Back on May 2022

Looking Back on May 2022

Finally! I'm back to working full-time after three months of being out of a job. I was seriously feeling the effects of that. My mind was shattered almost constantly (like I struggled to think or concentrate on one thing at a time), and I was struggling mentally with how to cope. The one thing I had to look forward to in the last month was that I was starting a new job. What I find a little funny, the last two jobs I interviewed for and started with both had start dates very close to my birthday. I'm going to be in what they call "training" for the next six months, but I'm excited about this next chapter.…
