Tandem Reading Guide of Twilight and Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Tandem Reading Guide of Twilight and Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

I've mentioned it before on my blog, but I used to be obsessed with Twilight. I helped run a fan forum back in the day on Gaia Online. I wrote a series of novels (never published) that were very inspired by Twilight. And I read every post that Stephenie Meyer put up on her website about this series including Midnight Sun after it was leaked. Then I went to college, grew up a bit, and haven't returned to the series since. When Midnight Sun was finally released, I wasn't sure if I was going to get it or not. And I didn't for the longest time, but the other day while I was at Target I ended up putting it in my cart. So, I thought I'd share here how a tandem read could be done between Midnight Sun and Twilight. Since it's the same book, just one told by Bella and the other by Edward.…

Revisiting a Series I was Obsessed With: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Revisiting a Series I was Obsessed With: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I haven't read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series in over a decade. I used to be completely obsessed with this series. I literally helped run a Twilight fan forum. And it's the origin of the moniker I use for almost everything. So, I decided to revisit this once-loved book series to see where my feelings on the series are now. I'm thinking of doing this with a few book series that I used to be obsessed with. But we must begin with the pinnacle obsession of my teenage years.…

My Thoughts on the Love Triangle Book Trope

My Thoughts on the Love Triangle Book Trope

Oh, the love triangle trope. So many books include this in one way or another to add a dash of drama and conflict. Typically I find it to be done poorly, as you almost always know which individual a character is going to end up with. The other is just there, and either they are used to make the first individual appear to be the better option. Or leads to cheating occurring, which is a massive no for me. There are a few times where this trope was done, where I didn't mind it being included. So, I decided to look at how a few different book series approached this trope and what worked and didn't work for these series.…

Popular Books I Will Probably Not Read

Popular Books I Will Probably Not Read

I saw Angelika Oles do a video on this topic over on YouTube, and I thought that was a great idea. So, I thought I'd take a look at some popular books that I will probably never read myself and give a brief explanation why I wouldn't. As these are popular books, there will probably be some that I'm mentioning that you might have enjoyed. This is nothing against the books themselves or the authors. It's a personal preference and meant in good spirit.…

Authors Accused of Plagiarism

Authors Accused of Plagiarism

Controversies have always been around, especially with popular authors. But one of the biggest controversies an author can face (for the most part) is plagiarism since it could lead to legal action. What is plagiarism? It's stealing someone else's work and passing it off as your own. So, I thought we'd go over some popular and indie authors that faced these accusations.…

New v. Old Book Covers: Which do I Prefer?

New v. Old Book Covers: Which do I Prefer?

Publishers often change up book covers either to bring in a new audience or encourage individuals to buy additional editions of their favorite series. Sometimes, I liked the new design over the old one. But usually, it's the other way around. So, I thought I would compare some of my favorite series where the covers were drastically changed over the years.…

The Era of YA Vampire Books

The Era of YA Vampire Books

I was looking at my bookcase, and I still have a bunch of books from when I was a teenager. I went through a serious vampire phase. Don't get me wrong I still love a good vampire book. But there's something about the late 2000s and early 2010s in young adult fantasy books, where there were a lot of books featuring vampires. Now, I didn't read all of them and most of the book series I'm going to mention today I technically never finished either due to going to college or growing out of the phase by the time the rest of the books in the series came out.…

90’s Book Tag (Music Edition)

90’s Book Tag (Music Edition)

I was not tagged to do this, but I saw it on Ellie's blog Read to Ramble, and I really wanted to do it myself. One, as I was born in the 90's. Two, quarantine has unleashed my book addiction and has temporarily replaced my video game and makeup addicted self as you can probably tell from the change in direction of my blog lately. This tag was created by Jemma from What Reading Does and Milly from A Books Neverland. Now, onto this tag!…
