Looking Back at the Books I Read in January 2023
I decided that in 2023, I'm going to do things a little differently here on my blog. Instead of doing a massive summary of everything that happened during the last month, I'm going to break it out into parts if there are multiple things to discuss. So, this one is going to be purely focused on everything that I read during January 2023. These are all the new books I read, not any that I decided to re-read along the way. The second book in the Prophecy of the Forgotten Fae, called A Cage of Crystal, by Tessonja Odette is a rewritten version of Veil of Mist (Lela Trilogy). This was the first ever series by the author. While the book may be fully rewritten there are plot changes, name changes, and other modifications. I'm not usually someone who reads short stories. I like my books being at least 300 pages at minimum, due to the speed at which I read. However, when I learned that Tessonja Odette was releasing Married by Scandal I had to read it. One, it's set in a universe I know. Two, it's on a character that I wanted to see more of in that universe. Three, I love pretty much everything this author puts out. Another month has already come and gone this year. While I'm looking forward to summer being done as I'm not a major fan of the season, I also don't want to rush the end of the year. But I feel good about everything I accomplished this month. For starters, I addressed and fixed my top front teeth which had been making me feel self-conscious about speaking or smiling. I still need to address all the rest of my teeth, but I think this was a major step in the right direction. Plus, there's only so much I can afford at a time. Especially since I maxed out the insurance for what it can cover. So, I'm saving up to do the next set, but I don't know exactly when that's going to happen. Another thing is I did all my major training for the job I started mid-May with multiple presentations that made me super nervous, but I felt really good once they were each done especially when I heard the feedback. I think the next step there is getting customers and actually supporting them, but I'm feeling confident and still looking forward to every day at work. Who doesn't love a good fairy tale/folklore retelling? Tessonja Odette is back at it again, this time with a Snow White retelling. But instead of seven dwarves and a magic mirror, there are a few twists to how these are incorporated into the world of Entangled with Fae.
