3 Looks 1 Palette: NYX Machinist Collection – Grind Palette

Instead of getting new palettes and my constant desire to do some sort of series, I’m going to be doing an ongoing 3-looks-1-palette or collection series. Where I don’t necessarily review a palette or share any deep thoughts about it since all of these I’ve reviewed for the most part on my blog at some point. If I did I’ll link the review post at the end of each post if you want to see my overall thoughts on a palette, as my opinion hasn’t really changed on the formula since I put those reviews up. Now some of the palettes will be limited edition ones as I’m just going to cycle through my collection. If the palette is still available, I will make a note on each post as well in this series.

To begin with I’m going to be doing the NYX Machinist Collection – Grind Palette, which was a limited edition palette in Fall 2018 and is no longer available. The palette was $25 which is more of the expensive side of NYX’s products, but also has a higher quality when it comes to the packaging and shadows. Here is the link to my review of the palette along with the other two palettes in the Machinist Collection. Since this palette does not have shade names I will be sharing an image of the palette with each shade used highlighted and referred to by numbers (1-12).

Look One: Rusty Grunge

I started out with a mixture of the base neutral shades number 4 & number 6 to start out the crease then layered on the warm terracotta shade, number 11. Then I took the brown/blue duochrome, number 10, across my lid. Then just to make sure the outer corner was deepened up I used a mixture of number 3 and number 8. Then I went back in with the warm brown, number 11, to smoke out my lower lash line. Then I used the NYX Epic Ink Liner to give myself a wing and applied some mascara. That’s how I wore it throughout the day but when I got home to take photos of the look for the post I added a pair of Azeredo Cosmetics Lashes in Irresistible. As for my lips I was wearing Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Calabasas mixed with Delicious.

Look Two: Camo Halo

Since I’m not doing a review or anything so I am going to mix in other products with these. For this second look, I’m using the Flower Beauty Warrior Glitter Shadow in Camo in addition to the NYX Machinist Collection – Grind Palette. I started out with number 7 in my crease then deepened it with number 11. Before taking some number 6 to blend out the upper edge of the eyeshadow. Once I was happy with my warm toned brown shades I moved onto the green. Starting with number 2 on the inner and outer corners of my eyes. Then I took the Flower Beauty Warrior Glitter in Camo as a base for number 9 in the palette, which is a matching metallic green shade. Then I applied mascara and liner. I smoked out the lower lash line with the first two shades I dipped into. At this point I felt like it was still missing something so I took a little bit of number 1, a metallic champagne tone to highlight the brow bone and add an additional pop in the center of my lid to really sell that halo effect on my eyes.

After doing the look and wearing it all day, I did not touch up the eyeshadow before adding on a facechart inspired look from Instagram user Vlad Petrov which I created using NYX Epic Ink Liner, ColourPop Liquid Liner in Graceland, and Black Moon Cosmetics Moonlighter in Centipede. Also at this point I added on the lashes, but didn’t retake the eyeshadow close-up.

Look 3: Copper Grind

Another grunge glam look, before I get into the eyes I have on ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Cloudscape on my lips and Azeredo Cosmetics lashes in the style Hollywood. OK, instructions for how I achieved this eye look. I started out with 11th shade in the palette to create the full depth in my crease then blended it out towards my brows using the 7th shade followed by the 4th shade then highlighted the brow with the 1st shade in the palette. To make sure I dipped into all of the shades in the palette for these three looks I took the copper toned 12th shade across my lids then went in with the 3rd shade to deepen the outer corner. Then for the inner corner I used a mixture of the 1st and 5th shade. Lastly before lashes, I used the 11th shade and 4th shade for my lower lash line.
