I’m not someone who makes New Year resolutions. Those are nine out of ten times forgotten or abandoned within the first week. Though that’s not to say that I don’t make goals for myself or set things that I would like to accomplish within the year. They just aren’t major life-changing things. If I’m going to do that, like I did with my wellness journey, it’s something that I decide sometime in the middle of the year.
So, with that being said, here are all the things I’m going to try to achieve this year:
- Try to post at least once a week on my blog. I’m not always going to be posting book reviews, so there will be some branching out in terms of what I’m sharing, but it’s not going to be completely different from the usual stuff. It will be something related to books, video games, life, and maybe even a return to beauty. I might even start sharing my paintings, since I’ve been doing that a lot over the last year, and I have some more planned for this year.
- Speaking of posting more on my blog, that brings me to the next goal. I’m going to start writing a web book series (serial). I got the idea from Ruby Dixon, as I love to read those as they come out. While I’m not going to be posting a new chapter every day, the plan is to post at least one or two chapters every week. It’s going to be inspired by classic fairy tales. Not the Disney versions of them, but more in line with the originals. It’s mainly going to be vibes with a loose overall plot. It’s more for fun than anything. I don’t have a set date on when I’m going to start posting it, but it is in the works so hopefully within the next month or two.
- Lose an additional ten to fifteen pounds. Since October 2024, I’ve lost a good amount of weight; these are what I have remaining, though I may call it before then. But I’ve gotten really close to where I should be for my height.
- Finish writing my second novel. This honestly may not be accomplished; I’m close to finishing it, but I’m tempted to rewrite it so I can make it stronger. I have a better idea of where I want to take things now, so it’s incredibly likely I will end up rewriting things. Not to mention, I’m going to adjust the first book that I finished last year to reflect those changes. Good thing I haven’t attempted to publish it yet. 🥲
- Read 50 books. This is the same goal that I had last year, but it’s still the most realistic amount for me to read in a year while working two jobs, so I’m going to aim to read the same amount this year, and anything I read over that is a bonus.
- Finish paying off my student loans! If I calculated it right, I should be done paying these off within a few months. I still have to pay off the Parent PLUS loans that my father is making me pay for, which is nowhere near done, but I’ll at least have the one in my name paid off. Which I’m excited about.
- Make a dent in credit card debt. This mainly occurred due to needing to fix almost every tooth in my mouth. I’ve talked about that before, but it was way more than I could afford, and it’s nowhere near done. I have a broken tooth I have also been avoiding, but I need to address the debt first, then I’ll tackle that. Or at least wait until I have enough saved up to address the tooth, since I know it’s going to become a crown and possibly need a root canal. I really wish dental insurance covered more. But that’s not the world, or rather the country, that I live in.
That’s everything I’m planning on at the moment, but there may be more I come up with down the line. We’ll see how things go as the year progresses. What are you planning to achieve this year? Do you set goals or resolutions when the new year arrives? Or do you believe those things should come as the year progresses?
Love ya,
