Makeup Battle: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden vs Makeup Revolution Cut Crease Canvas Eyeshadow Base in Illustrate

I have been using Urban Decay Primer Potion for AGES as a base for my eyeshadow, which makes my eyeshadow last all day long without any noticeable wear or weird creasing. Recently Makeup Revolution has been killing it with launches to the point where they don’t really seem like dupes anymore. I mean there are still a good amount of products that are recreations but I don’t know what their cut crease eyeshadow base is supposed to be the dupe of. So I thought I would battle out the products to see which one is better or more worth it. As much as I love the primer potion, I’m not made of money so if I can save a buck and get the same result sometimes I will go for it.

I also just discovered how to do columns in WordPress or rather they just made it easy to find so I’m going to do a break down of each eyeshadow base/primer before going into the wear test/makeup battle.

Since I have not tried the Makeup Revolution Cut Crease Eyeshadow Base before I just want to go over a few thoughts I have about the product. So much product comes out when you open the product so you can accidentally end up applying too much, and the sides don’t pick up any of extra product. It’s also a bigger tube than the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion but holds less product.

I applied Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base on one side and the Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow base on the other. I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera palette on both eyes since I know how that wears throughout the day. Here is how the makeup looked right away after application. I forgot to do close up photos after I initially did my makeup. As I completely forgot about the fact I was doing the makeup battle and was just taking photos for Instagram.

Then I went out with my extended family to several breweries in Downtown Minneapolis, which was a lot of fun. Then we had some delicious yet expensive AF pizza, and somehow it was eight hours later and I was sick of wearing false lashes. So before I peeled those off I took the “after” photo of how the eyeshadow wore with each base.

On the left is the Urban Decay Primer Potion used as the base, and on the right is the Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Base underneath the ABH Riviera palette. I think the eyeshadow wore way better on the Urban Decay side as there is a clear spot on the Makeup Revolution side where the eyeshadow has just vanished. Also the eyeshadow is way more vibrant at the end of the day on the Urban Decay side.

So ultimately I think the Urban Decay Primer Potion still reigns supreme as my favorite eyeshadow base. So it’s going to be something I’ll continue to use. However, I’ll probably use the Makeup Revolution eyeshadow base to cut the crease since I don’t want to use the Urban Decay Primer Potion for that. And my ColourPop No Filter Concealer is almost out, so to get the use out of the product I’ll use it for that in the future. Since I still think it’s nice enough but not the dream product.
